This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Birmingham Disaster Loan Service Center in Birmingham, AL. Serves as a Supervisory Loan Specialist and is responsible for directing and overseeing the loan servicing and liquidation activities performed at the Center.
Duties
Major Duties:
Assists the Director in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Center operations.
Gathers and reviews facts and dates relating to the loan balance, lien situations, collateral of other interests' creditors, and any assets of the borrower which may provide recovery to the Agency.
Reviews subordinate team members' analysis and recommendations for servicing and collection activities and assists the Director in all planning and coordinating a range of activities to test pilot programs on behalf of the agency (i.e., new servicing and collection methods).
Serves with authority for planning, assigning and reviewing work of employees; setting and adjusting short-term priorities to assure production and accuracy requirements are met; advising, counseling, and instructing employees on production and technical matters.
Ensures that high level of customer service is provided to all of SBA's clients. Provides essential feedback to team members on
progress towards goals and job performance.

Qualifications
GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
In-depth analysis of obligator's financial statements and earning potential of a variety of business enterprises to make recommendations for residential and commercial/business loan applications or servicing/liquidation actions, including a thorough working knowledge of a variety of collateral, business types, loan program and general economic conditions. AND
Leading a team or managing an office of loan officers/specialists in business / residential loan programs including but not limited to servicing, collections, and/or loan liquidation.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.
