You will serve as a Machinist Leader in the Repair Department of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will serve as Machinist Leader and may be required to lead work in other shops of Shop 31. You will assure that all safety and housekeeping rules are followed, and that tools and equipment are being properly utilized and maintained. You will plan and lay out work orders associated, not limited to the overhaul, repair, and maintenance of submarine machinery and equipment. You will analyze engineering drawings, specifications and blueprints. You will use other documentation such as Technical Repair Standards (TRS), Maintenance Requirement Procedures (MRP), NAVSEA Technical Manuals to identify critical dimension and key reference points.; material strength, tolerances, failure rates.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise Ability to review work for adherence to specifications; assuring that work assigned to group is accomplished in a timely and effecicent manner. Ability to diagnose, plan and complete projects or work orders involving major systems in their entirety, using blueprints, sketches, and other specifications and accepted trade practices, Ability to troubleshoot marine equipment to determine the area and degree of difficulty; parts or material required; methods, techniques and procedure to use in making repairs.
