You will serve as a Machinist in the CNC and Precision Machining Shop (31A),(31AD),(31F) & (31T)Mechanical Division (TRF-320), Repair Department (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will perform machining operations on computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools. You will set-up and prepare numerical control machine tools for proper operation. You will provide instruction to numerical control machine tool operators. You will prepare and implement shop floor programs for numerical control machine tools. You will provide training in the operation of operator programmable equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. www.sss.gov
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

To qualify for the MACHINIST, WG-3414-10 position, the Screen-out Element is: The ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision such as: Ability to perform the full range of machine operations on most types of conventional or CNC machine tools and their various attachments. Ability to apply technical practices associated with electroplating of submarine machinery and equipment. Ability to operate test equipment to verify quality of repairs such as rotating machinery lab (RML), water test stands, balancing equipment etc. To qualify for the MACHINE TOOL OPERATOR, WG-3414-08 position, the Screen-out Element is: The ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision such as: Ability to operate machine tools to perform repairs, maintenance and overhaul work. Ability to apply technical practices related to the overhaul and repair of machinery and equipment. Ability utilizing shop drawings, specifications, blueprints and measuring instruments. Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations (X-118C). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
