Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As an Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge of and experience with principles, practices, methods, and techniques of administering public health programs to optimize business results and customer experience by: Writes, edits, and presents health information, talking points for leadership to promote health observances, blog posts, and scripts to promote outreach activities. Works in the national office and will help resolve problems and issues that derive from external pressures, which are not always anticipated, as well as from technical matters of program application. Works with a variety of different parties, and their agencies and organizations to review new and existing health content and other materials. Deals with dissimilar and complex health and health oriented entities having no initial interest in program participation and/or entrenched ideas on maintaining the status quo.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Basic Requirements for all Public Health Program Specialist Series, 0685 positions require that you demonstrate specialized experience in each of the following five competencies: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communication, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. AND To qualify for the GS-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing all of the following: - Presenting findings and delivering briefings, to help others in understanding and accepting findings and recommendations and negotiating solutions to disputed recommendations. - Developing, monitoring, implementing, and evaluating interrelated public health programs involving governmental and non-governmental organizations from multiple sectors at the community, State, national, and/or international levels. - Utilizing knowledge of public health program laws, regulations, policies, and precedents to develop new or modified guidelines and procedures. To qualify for the GS-11: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing all of the following: - Preparing responses to inquiries, project papers, reports, proposals, policies, and other substantive program material. - Analyzing unconventional public health problems or circumstances, inconclusive facts or data. - Providing substantive program guidance and technical assistance to various public, private, and nonprofit health and health-related agencies and organizations.
