The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the installation security specialist for anti-terrorism and force protection related physical and operations security policy and issues, managing assigned program areas, and implementing force protection policy, projects, and studies.
Duties
Serves as the installation authority and expert on all areas involving anti-terrorism and force protection requirements, policy, procedures, and program status to acts as the focal point to coordinate, deconflict, and integrate various force protection staff initiatives, policies, and activities withing the installation/wing.
Responsible for the overall implementation, oversight, and centralized control of the coordinated anti-terrorism and force protection program for the installation/wing on a regular basis, accomplishes assignments requiring
application of new concepts and theories to security problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted security measures or procedures.
Plans, conducts, directs the conduct of, or coordinates on security site studies, projects, assessments, and surveys of the installation in relationship to anti-terrorism and force protection activities and works with civil engineering to assess and endorse on all installation construction projects to ensure standard construction compliance.
Represents the installation/wing commander at meetings, conferences, workshops, panels, etc., at MAJCOM and other federal agency levels as the installation/wing force protections and anti-terrorism technical authority.

- Incumbent must maintain/continue/initial upon assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification/ Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established incumbents Entrance on Duty ( EOD)
- Certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representatives
- This is a designated Key position, Emergency-Essential (E-E) and Incumbents on this position may need to be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.

Qualifications
Qualifications are determined using: General Schedule Qualification Standards, GS-0080 Security Administration, Administrative and Management Positions
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-2, equivalent to the GS-05 to GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes: knowledge of information, industrial, and personnel security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs to protect the organization from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information; analytical, planning, advisory, operational, or evaluative work in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and GS-11. (When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used.)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices.
Knowledge of AF, MAJCOM, and installation/wing missions, functions, and structure.
Knowledge of security forces programs and governing policies, directives, instructions, and procedures.
Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to conduct surveys/studies, accomplish projects, and evaluate results for the management and completion of programs.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to effectively manage and organize various program activities and tasks and be familiar with administrative requirements of the installation/wing and MAJCOM.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
