You will serve as a SENIOR SCIENTIST in the Preclinical Behavior and Models Division of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.
Duties
You will manage the research laboratory support program for the Preclinical Behavior and Models Division (PBMC).
You will ensure the program mission and vision are communicated to staff or team members and are fully integrated into goals and objectives.
You will articulate and communicate to the staff and/or team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
You will oversee staff or team member’s work, and provides feedback to the supervisor on the individual’s performance, behavior, or work issues.
You will schedule, direct, and assist with complex research studies and performs professional behavioral and quality control research that requires proficiency in overseeing complex technical areas.
You will serve as subject matter expert for behavioral assessments used for the evaluation of functions related to depression, anxiety, cognition, social, fear, acute/chronic stress exposure, pain, sleep disorder, and somatic and motor impairments.
You will design, implement, and analyze preclinical experimental, and/or surgical experiments and studies involving functional assessment through behavioral analysis in mice and rats for several research areas.
You will interpret and evaluate results of research to determine Validity and Scientific significance in disseminating results.
You will assess statistical analyses and range of activities for experiments and projects and tests to determine data support protocols and other pertinent scientific relationships.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional scientist assessing research programs (i.e. grants, agreements, contracts) to monitor and make recommendations for research integrity and compliance.

Education
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.
Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
