Duties
Responsible for the timely and accurate output of all budget and travel accounting data; technical assistance to the Budget Analysts, Financial Program Specialists and Management Analysts; and the development, implementation and maintenance of sophisticated and complex fully-automated financial management systems for the Bureau of Prisons (BOP). Serves as the travel expert for the Central Office Business Office (COBO) and coordinates the proper handling of travel authorizations and settlements in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation (FTR), the Department of Justice (DOJ) travel policy, and BOP program statements. Serves as the budget expert for the COBO and is responsible for the formulation and execution of the annual budget to the Central Office cost centers. Responsible for monitoring Bureau-level accounting and budgeting reports to ensure the integrity of the accounting systems and resulting reports depicting the financial status of the Bureau throughout the Central Office. Provides day-to-day guidance, technical advice and assistance when needed concerning travel and budgeting.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Experience in applying budget and accounting policies and procedures in a federal government setting.
Experience that demonstrates knowledge of automated financial management systems design practices and limitations in order to operate, maintain, improve, and evaluate established systems.
Experience in analyzing, identifying and resolving a variety of budgeting and travel issues.
Experience in providing guidance and technical advice regarding budgeting and travel policy and procedures.
