As Administrative Support Assistant (ASA) in Mental Health Service, the incumbent's primary function is to provide day-to-day support to the overall operation of Mental Health Service line.
Duties
Serves as the Service Line Time Keeper. knowledge and experience m VATAS timekeeping
Researches. monitors and prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
Liaison with Payroll and Work-life benefits to ensure leave administration and compensation rules are followed ( FMLA, LWOP, etc)
Knowledge and skills m operating VISTA, CPRS. VSSC. FCP computer systems
Monitor equipment for Service Line Equipment Inventory List
Serves as Service Line Purchase card holder, makes purchases adhering to Purchase card guidelines
Ability lo tactfully and effectively communicate both orally and written
Ability to provide clear concise information for management review
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/13/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge and experience in the following - administrative and clinical health care principles and techniques; organizing, planning and preparation of various reports - data collection, data aggregation, analysis and reporting of data; VA patient information systems - VISTA and CPRS; patient rights, ethics and principles or confidentiality; personal computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; preparing a wide variety of correspondence; receiving visitors, patients and their families, and phone calls; maintaining time cards and timekeeping for employees; completing purchases and training or travel orders for employees.
You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position:
Manages Resources: Selects, acquires, stores, and distributes resources such as materials, equipment, or money.
Data Management: Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and tools of data management such as modeling techniques, data back up and recovery,
Compensation: Knowledge of compensation concepts. principles, and practices including pay and leave administration and compensation flexibilities.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table. Some physical demands such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 40 pounds) is required. Physical exertions including stretching, reaching and pulling or pushing carts occurs when assisting with inventories or activities involving retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
