The primary purpose of this position, LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, GS-0346-12, is to serve as a Logistics Management Specialist performing logistics duties that support Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) programs; the position is responsible for ensuring timely and effective accomplishment of projects necessary to provide complete logistical support.
Duties
Responsible for planning, managing, or coordinating total cradle to grave life cycle logistics support for a major weapon system or subsystem, integrating separate functions of supply, maintenance, procurement, and quality assurance into logistics activities needed to sustain system fielding.
Assess progress in assigned projects/ programs including cost estimates, schedules and performance supportability baseline requirements by applying know product support methods and procedures.
Evaluate status and effectiveness of programs across all functional areas to assure adhered to by all activities.
Interpret acquisition, logistics and product support policies and directives.
Advise the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Systems Directorate (ICBM SD) senior staff of program logistics support requirements and objectives, significant actions or problems, and provides recommended solutions.

- PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent does sedentary work, normally sitting comfortably. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items. No special physical effort or ability is required to perform the work.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is normally performed in an adequately lighted and ventilated office environment. The incumbent exercises normal office safety precautions.
Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, ADMINISTRATIVE AND MANAGEMENT POSITIONS. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. An example of creditable specialized experience includes: Broad knowledge of the theories and principles of logistics and weapon systems management; knowledge and skill in applying detailed analytical and evaluative techniques to complex logistical issues and studies involved in logistics and weapon systems management concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics program operations and developing new/modified work methods; in-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and precedents affecting logistics and weapon systems management; skill in organizing and making briefings, presentations, and preparing reports concerning logistics and weapon systems management to managers and higher headquarters personnel and/or foreign officials and knowledge of the principles, policies, legal requirements, and practices of systems acquisition and program management to plan, organize, and manage critical aspects of the development, production, and/or deployment of systems, subsystems, and equipment that are within available technology. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Due to the use of 120 day rosters, applicants within 120 days of completion of TIG requirements are encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the laws, principles, and practices of product support management, logistics management and systems acquisition along with a thorough familiarity with and technical competence in the major material management functional areas.
Knowledge of system logistics, program support planning programming, budgeting, and funding policies; logistics data requirements, management systems and integrated data systems objectives planning and projects.
Knowledge of the way in which industrial concerns and the using activities/operating contractors are affected by Air Force Material Command (AFMC) programs.
Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with individuals and groups within the office as well as outside the immediate work unit.
Ability to plan, organize, and manage critical aspects of research, development, production, and support of subsystems or equipment, and integrate, analyze, and manage a variety of product support functions and personnel in support of the process.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
