About the Position: This Defense Travel Specialist position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties
Perform a variety of budgetary, administrative and coordination of all required actions in the Defense Travel System (DTS).
Perform complex and responsible analysis of travel authorizations and vouchers to ensure requests for payment are complete, accurate, within budgetary limitations and conform to all applicable regulations
Prepare and reviews transaction activity reports for inappropriate or misuse of credit card and irregularities, frequent ATM usage, or local charges.
Maintain records of purchasing transactions and prepares documentation for supervisor and Approving Official.
Prepare, review, validate, examine and audit authorizations/vouchers in DTS.
Ensure system requirements and activities necessary to achieve the objectives are identified, met and resolved, including all technical, administrative and/ or operational problems and conflicts in DTS.
Manage restricted cards, credit limits, delinquencies and cardholder abuse.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This is a DOD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 2 within 2 years of appointment. Failure to obtain and maintain certification may result in adverse action.
- This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing budget transactions of traveler authorization/vouchers and resolution of travel issues in an automated travel system; developing traveler profiles and/or organizational data in a travel database; preparing transaction activity reports for travel credit card usage. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
