This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Information Technology Management.
Duties
Serves as the Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for all aspects of the Microsoft SQL relational database management system architectures.
Plans, monitors and leads the work of team members engaged in database management tasks and projects to include short- and long-range planning ensuring Cyber Security requirements are met.
Resolves simple informal complaints of team members and refers others to supervisor. As an IT Specialist, plan the approach and methodology for areas of assignment, many of which include new or little used approaches.
Plans, oversees, develops, and implements database policies/ procedures to ensure cyber security and data requirements are met with regards to confidentiality, integrity, and availability for all application databases in the area of responsibility.
Ensures that servers in all environments are properly backed up incrementally on a daily basis and a weekly full back up in case of system or media failure.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all DoD Information Assurance and security standards.
Provides daily system and Cyber Security support as needed for all enterprise servers.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel is required approximately 10% of the time requiring the employee to travel away from the normal duty station.
- Must hold IA Technical level 3 certification under DoD Directive 8140-M (IA Training and Workforce Management) and related implementing policies. The Personnel Security Standard of this position is IT Level 1 under AR 25-2 Information Assurance
- Required to satisfactorily complete appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8140-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program
- Required to sign a DA Form 5019-R Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position is designated as mission critical.
- May/will require shifted work hours based on operational or mission requirements. Permanent change of shift may/will be at the determination of the second level supervision. The incumbent may also be on an "on-call" status on a rotational basis.
- May be required to be called back to duty and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
- May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Position requires employee to successfully complete locally identified recurring Information Assurance Security training.
- This position is DoD8140-M, IAT 3; and requires the applicable Computing Environment (CE) certifications. Commercial Computing Environment certifications accepted/obtained within first 6 months of employment.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience which includes: Developing and/or applying methods and procedures in special areas of data management and information security; Providing advice and guidance on a variety of complex data management issues; and Recommending new and/or modified data management standards ensuring compliance and increase efficiency.
To qualify for an IT Specialist position you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below based on the grade level required of the position being filled:
