This Program Support Assistant position is located in the Primary Care service line at the Newington Campus of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and performs administrative work in direct support of the Primary Care program and leadership.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Provides clerical assistance and technical support within the Primary Care Service Line.
Acts as a point of contact for records management, human resources, emergency equipment requests.
Maintains the Equipment Inventory List.
Maintains office equipment.
Develops spreadsheets to facilitate personnel management recruitment.
Maintains the services daily appointment meeting calendar.
Serves as the control point manager for ordering supplies.
Assists the Administrative Officer and Credentialing office in preparing VETPRO documentation.
Provides technical support to staff that need advice, computer assistance, and training in applying hardware and databases.
Performs on boarding processes and ensures all new employees have proper access and equipment.
Assists new employees and residents with the orientation process, PIV issues, and other needs.
Completes Patient Advocate Requests for the Primary Care Service Line.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Schedule may be adjusted to support facility needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/14/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. (This is separate from your experience and is mandated by statutory and regulatory requirements.)
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You must qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Collects, organizes and creates forms and paperwork; Provides technical support to include, computer assistance, training and troubleshooting; Maintains office equipment and the service's daily appointment meeting calendar, orders supplies, prepares and tracks forms; Obtains, organizes, files and retrieves reports and correspondence for the use in preparing reports, briefings and presentations; Acts as the point of contact for all new staff, collecting, organizing and creating all forms and paperwork; Plans, designs, organizes, conducts and/or coordinates all computer training and implementation of relevant network applications; and Assists with meetings and functions which may include assisting with the set-up for audience seating, audio/visual organization, printing and posting of meeting materials, invitations, etc.
Education: There is no educational substitution for this series at this grade level.
Preferred Experience: Working directly in an administrative environment carrying out various computer based tasks and data retrieval.

Physical Requirements: The work is primary sedentary except when required to walk to the other areas within the medical center. Bending and standing to retrieve information form files necessary in addition to long periods of generating documents of personal computers. Light lifting of technical equipment is required.
