Duties
Serve as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff providing advice and recommendations on all matters relative to the coordination, integration, and synchronization of staff actions, events, and activities of the office.
The incumbent develops plans and strategies for the internal and external integration of daily and long-range projects, actions, and activities involving the Chief of Staff.
Develops and establishes methods to improve or expand services, maintaining a critical appraisal of operating reports and budget requests to determine the importance of proposals to maintain or expand office service programs.
Exercises control over the daily operating schedule of the Chief of Staff with authority for commitment of the time. Develops and maintains the Chief of Staff's long-range calendar.
Directs the administrative operations of the Chief of Staff's office, ensuring the most efficient and effective support is provided to the in the execution of office responsibilities

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
GS-11 specialized experience is defined as: applying knowledge of administrative and management procedures to coordinate a variety of administrative tasks and staff actions, providing recommendations regarding updates to policies, regulations and plans to meet current or changing conditions.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-09 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
Education
GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed higher-level graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
