Duties
Reviews document contents to ensure clear organization, avoidance of repetition of text, propriety of vocabulary, logical progression, and consistency of statements.
Recommends the reorganization and restructuring of documents as necessary to meet style requirements and improve transitions and flow. Ensures contents conform to the rules of grammar and format.
Develops, implements, and evaluates Agency editorial practices, guidelines, and standards in order to optimize official written communication.
Determines the adequacy of content and notes deficiencies; incomplete subject matter coverage; illogical development of ideas, facts, and/or concepts; and/or unsuitable verbiage for the intended audience.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
Qualifications
For the GS-12, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-11 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience at the GS-12 level is defined as experience performing research, preparing and publishing written materials that explain and interpret complex policies, programs, and functions of an organization for a variety of audiences or present advanced policy and process findings and applications for an organization and the public.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level.
