This position for The Defense Information Systems Agency is at Fort Meade, Maryland . This position is in the Office of Strategic Communication and Public Affairs, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). The Office of Strategic Communication and Public Affairs is responsible for educating, informing, and inspiring internal (workforce) and external audience groups about what DISA does, why the agency does it, and for whom, for the purposes of U.S. national security.
Duties
Serves as the principal Writer-Editor (Speechwriter) for the Defense Information Systems Agency Director, and, Deputy Director.
Reviews written material for the organization for editorial quality and consistency and compliance with established federal and DOD style and format to ensure that products adhere to requirements.
Independently edits and writes executive-level talking points, speeches, remarks, slide decks, briefing cards, emails other material including congressional testimony.
Provides support to the Combined Action Group (CAG) and the Office of Strategic Communication and Public Affairs for communication-based projects and assignments.
Manages the portion of Director’s Group Workspace related to editing policies, formats, etc. to provide a central repository that is accessible by agency employees worldwide.
Develops and implements the agency's editorial policies, practices, guidelines, and standards and provides guidance to personnel on editorial matters.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- This is a TERM Appointment recruitment up to 4 years.
Qualifications
Time in Grade:
For entry at the GS-14 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience:
For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized experience is experience defined as researching, writing and editing a variety of materials (i.e. speeches, articles, news releases, training materials, brochures, etc.) on the organization, mission, operations, history, objectives, interests, viewpoints, needs, and writing in plain language and adhering to organizationally mandated style guides. Experience includes developing and implementing and providing guidance on an agency's editorial policies, practices, guidelines and standards.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Applicants must describe how their experience meets the competencies within the body of the resume. No separate statements addressing competencies are required.

Education
