About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Enterprise/Surveillance & Recon Acty, Ft Gordon Det, Fort Belvoir, VA 22060. Duty Station Location: Fort Gordon, GA
Duties
Serves as primary technical lead for the Enterprise Virtual Desktop (VDI) solutions provided by the Ground Intelligence Support Activity (GISA) to a range of Army Intelligence customers worldwide.
Responsible for the technical evaluation and testing of a range of virtualization, storage, compute and VDI components for the Army Intelligence Enterprise
Designs, manages, and troubleshoots a range of storage architectures to include Network Attached Storage (NAS), Storage Area Network (SAN) and Object based storage.
Develops the Enterprise strategy for optimal use of a range of virtualization products (e.g. VMWare, Hypervisor, Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)), container solutions (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, etc.) and Cloud solutions.
Performs conceptual analysis, requirements analysis, design, implementation, deployment, documentation and maintenance of various applications and support tools within the construct of a Global IT Enterprise.
Manages virtualized servers, virtualized desktops, virtualized applications and the infrastructure in support of these technologies at both on premise data center locations and cloud locations.
Serves as a Storage Area Network Administrator (SAN Admin), includes planning, designing, and process and policy management.
Manages Storage Area Network (SAN) data, file server hardware and software, network files, and systems shares and provides capacity planning matrix.
Requirements
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) travel will be required 25% or less of the time.
- Must be willing to carry a pager or cell phone and be on call.
- May require consent to take a counterintelligence scope polygraph examination, if access to a special access program.
- All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as performing System Administrator duties in the technology areas of server virtualization, storage administration and virtual desktop support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GG/GS-11).
For this position, individuals must also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
