You will serve as a GG-0080-11 Security Specialist in the Field Security Division, Security Directorate, US FLEET CYBER COMMAND, where you will be responsible for performing support to personnel, physical, and information security programs. This position is located within the Navy Information Operations Detachment (NIOD) in Groton, CT.
Duties
You will initiate and/or review requests for personnel security investigations consistent with governing directives.
You will ensure requests for security clearances are properly screened and verified and that all necessary forms and documentation have been completed before processing for clearances.
You will review security clearance requests and similar material for information to determine individual security consciousness.
You will establish priority processing of requests for investigations and complete all correspondence pertaining to personnel security clearance records.
You will plan and conduct periodic physical security inspections.
You will advise the detachment personnel on matters requiring judgment, interpretation, and in-depth understanding of the intent of security regulations and procedures.
You will conduct annual security training as required by Naval regulations ensuring all personnel are apprised of changes in policies and regulations that may affect them.
Requirements

- You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
- This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
- This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
- As defined in DoDM 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification Manual, must obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification
(SFPC) and complete continuing education annually to maintain the certification.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, such as:
1. Initiate, review, and analyze requests for personnel security investigations while maintaining files, records, and reports pertinent to clearances.
2. Plan and conduct periodic physical security inspections.
3. Complete base access badge requests for personnel by evaluating security clearance requirements and area of access to be granted.
4. Support the formulation and coordination of the Information and Personnel security education programs.
5. Provide orientation, recurring indoctrination, debriefs, and annual security training to personnel.
OR
I have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
I have completed 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
OR
I have obtained an LL.M. that is related to the position being filled.
