The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.

Duties

This Legal Administrative Specialist (PATHWAYS RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES) provides routine litigation support tasks necessary to process common electronically stored information and prepare it for review or production by the litigation team. Uses specialized software applications to perform basic processing tasks and meet the technical needs of criminal and civil litigation teams in a trainee compacity. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Legal Administrative Specialist (PATHWAYS RECENT COLLEGE GRADUATES) support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Brooklyn, New York, focusing in the areas of litigation support. Typical work assignments will include: Processing electronic files in coordination with supervisor; Providing litigation customer support and project management services in connection with electronic discovery; Providing technical assistance, via established procedures, with case presentation and preparation.

Requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) the duties listed below: Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gathering pertinent data, and recognizing solutions; Performing support tasks necessary to process electronically stored information; and Communicating effectively orally and in writing with no spelling or grammatical errors. OR one full year of progressively higher level graduate education in a legal field or related field; OR demonstrate superior academic achievement performance at the undergraduate level (demonstrated by applicant finishing in the upper third of their class, 3.0 GPA or greater on final transcript (4.0 scale), 3.5 GPA or greater in major field of study (4.0 scale); or be a member of a listed National Scholastic Honor Society); OR a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Pathways Recent Graduate Eligibility Requirements: You must be a recent graduate who has completed within the last two (2) years (or will complete within nine months) of the close date of this announcement, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying education institute. Veterans who were unable to apply within two (2) years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, may be extended up to six years.   • Have completed, within the last two (2) years as of the closing date of this announcement, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying education institute.
  • Veterans who were unable to apply within two (2) years of receiving their degree, due to military service obligation, may be extended up to six (6) years.
