THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT WORKER/AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0487000/D0483000/D0484000/D1063000 and is part of the CO AASF, National Guard.
Duties
WG-08:The purpose of the position is to assist a higher-grade mechanic in accomplishing maintenance and repair of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Accomplishes a variety of repairs on military aircraft. Assists a higher-grade mechanic in completing more complicated and detailed repair work. Assists in performing functional checks and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include daily inspections, pre and post flight checks, fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, etc. May be required to perform such additional duties as firefighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
WG-10: Responsibility for the performance of the full range of aircraft maintenance duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of assemblies, system, and surfaces for one or more types of military aircraft, fixed and rotary wing. Perform inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on assigned aircraft to include pre-inspection, daily inspection, pre- and post-flight inspections and such special inspections as required, including fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, an inspection of onboard emergency equipment. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft. May be required to perform such additional duties as firefighting, aircraft crash/rescue, snow removal, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.
WG-11: Perform duties and has responsibilities understood under the military designation of Crew Chief which involves full maintenance responsibility for a required minimum number of aircraft as determined by type of aircraft. Performs Crew Chief duties with full maintenance responsibility for assigned aircraft. Performs the full range of preventive maintenance, repair, and ground testing of aircraft system, assemblies, and surfaces. Plans and conducts a flight training program for drill status crew chiefs to include maintenance instruction for assigned aircraft, the use of hand and arm signals used, ground handling of aircraft, use of ground equipment, aircraft loading, hoist operations, emergency procedures, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.
WG-12: The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft. Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft. Clears Red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others. Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises. Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Membership in the Colorado Army National Guard or eligible to transfer.
- Must hold the grade of E-3 thru E-7.
- Compatible Military Assignment: 15T MOS.
- Submit all required documentation.
- For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

WG-08 must have at least 12 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience using common hand tools to make mechanical repairs.
2. Experience removing and installing aircraft parts, components and accessories with detailed guidance.
3. Experience in following detailed instructions in making routine, reoccurring repairs and modifications to aircraft parts, subassemblies and components, e.g. such as jacking and leveling aircraft, installing and adjusting engines, landing gear assemblies, instrument panels, and flight control systems.
WG-10/11/12 must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
1. Experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification.
2. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.
3. Experience instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.
