About the Position: Performs a wide variety of personnel, administrative and clerical tasks associated with the requirements and procedures of Army Reserve personnel programs. Duties include matters of military personnel management and administration relating to and affecting commissioned and warrant officers and enlisted personnel of the Army Reserve, Military retirees, and the family members of Reserve personnel.

Duties

exercise tact, sound judgment, discretion, and a vast knowledge of laws, policies, regulations and procedures in verbally advising and assisting the customers Responds to telephonic inquiries based on accumulated knowledge of research, as content requires Performs intensive research of obsolete and occasionally obscure laws, precedents, and other regulatory material and the requirement to make judgment calls when the evidence is missing Verifies accuracy of information being cited and quoted in replies, regulations and directives, and their application to specific inquiries with key personnel in order to obtain a fully responsive and factual reply Edits material and makes necessary corrections in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and format. applies typing skills and knowledge of a limited range of the functions and procedures used in word processing and, if needed, other software to create and edit various standardized documents uses basic functions and procedures used in spreadsheet software to execute several different routine operations actively participates on team building activities, including consensus decision making, group/team problem solving, development of team objective, and process improvement activities Assisting team members and responding constructively to views expressed by others Analyzes written correspondence to determine action to be taken, the extent of research required, and the source from which to obtain information and the facts to provide a full comprehensive reply initiates or responds to requests for factual data or documents relating to military personnel files, status or transactions, or to inquiries regarding regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
