This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DIB-MRTFB to recruit for positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: As a Lead Pharmacy Tech, responsible for a two or more Pharmacy Techs team to assist Pharmacist in processing and dispensing prescriptions within the 96th MDG.

Duties
Performs pharmacy dispensing services.
Receives and reviews individual prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals, to include controlled drugs, to determine kind, strength, and dosage of drugs to be dispensed.
Lead a team or two or more pharmacy technicians.
Interprets prescription orders for appropriateness and conformity with established standards.
Performs work leader duties.
Plans, distributes, and balances work to be accomplished by employees.
Ensures the work assignment of employees is accomplished in accordance with appropriate regulations, rules, and law within established time frames.
Performs pharmacy compounding functions.
Interprets orders for appropriateness and conformity with established pharmaceutical standards.
Works in intravenous additive solution area and performs sterile solution operations.
Receives and reviews orders received for intravenous additive solutions and checks with the pharmacist if incomplete orders or other discrepancies are noted.
Performs administrative and logistical functions.
Prepares and maintains various pharmacy records, files, and administrative reports determining and modifying format and content.
Performs clinic inspections and maintains work area and equipment.
Provides training, assistance, and technical oversight as required.
Trains newly assigned pharmacy personnel, e.g., pharmacists, technician trainees, and volunteers, on all aspects of pharmacy operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Position requires the ability to discern colors and contrast.
- Will be required to participate in the Tuberculosis (TB) program.
- May be subject to testing and/or immunization programs for HEP B/Rubella, as determined for health and safety of employees.
- Will be required to take Basic Life Support (BLS) training and obtain certification.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification requirement is highly desired.
- The employee will comply with locally directed MTF commander training consistent with AF wide standards and directives applicable to Active Duty and contractor personnel performing similar occupational series duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience performing at least two of the following tasks which includes: (1) filling prescriptions, (2) distributing pharmaceuticals, (3) maintaining accurate inventory of controlled substances, and (4) utilizing pharmacy-based computer systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
