This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) through integration with all U.S. Combatant Commands, Combat Service Support Agencies, Services, interagency, Office of Secretary of Defense, and multinational partners that directly impacts the nation's current and future military capabilities.

Duties

As a Concepts Analyst at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Leads development, assessment, and evaluation of joint concepts in support of the FCD mission. Performs complex analysis, writing, editing, reviewing and revising written products supporting development of joint concepts within the Joint Staff and Department of Defense. Serves as the Concepts Analyst and is expected to represent Joint Staff/Futures and Concepts Division equities in accordance with guidance and policies as set forth by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Director Joint Staff J-7. Supports execution of the joint concept governance process and develops concept related products based on community of interest input and ensures that content and format adhere to the standards contained in the CJCSI 3010 "Guidance for Development and Implementation of Joint Concepts" and CJCSM 3170 Series "Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System." Develops and articulates Joint Staff positions on joint concept development and implementation issues to include planning, preparing, and producing meetings, decision briefings, and presentations. Develop and write joint concepts, handbooks, instructions, white papers, concept capabilities, and supporting documents within the context of classified Defense Planning Scenarios and associated future threats and technology trends.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service Applying concept development and experimentation on both urgent and long-term concepts for joint force employment, analyzing and prioritizing gaps in capabilities that could potentially be addressed by joint concept development; Reviewing, editing, revising and conducting analysis on various papers, reports, studies and briefings; Leading a cross matrixed team with members across DoD to write a joint concept which provides the Joint Force with broad capabilities, attributes, and operational log to address global challenges. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
