About the Position: Serves as the senior military analyst of the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC), Capability Development and Integration Directorate (CDID), SILENT QUEST Wargaming Division and expert subject matter consultant in support of Wargaming and Analysis.
This position is located in the US Army Special Operations Command DCS, G-9 Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Coordinate analytical support, leads, participates in, and hosts wargaming summit meetings and enabling events with representatives of attending Services and government agencies.
Provide SME support for the planning, coordination and conduct of the operational aspects of Silent Quest wargames.
Conducts broad studies of future warfare and frames issues related to future force operational requirements to develop and refine operational and functional concepts.
Develop and execute the integration processes, policies, and directives of joint and Future Force wargaming.
Develop seminar scenarios of wargame planning events such as workshops to facilitate test concepts and capabilities.
Negotiate with other services to ensure joint service experimentation requirements are addressed and adequately resourced.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Position requires regular unscheduled/unplanned overtime.

Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting or supporting planning and assessment of the future operating environment to determine its impact on future force requirements for a military command (example: Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF)). 2) Exploring CONOPS or concepts utilizing live, virtual, or constructive means via exercises, demonstrations, evaluations, wargames or experiments; 3) Formulating projects; assessing program effectiveness; or investigating or analyzing conditions to examine the validity of CONOPS or concepts; and 4) Communicate effectively. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
