About the Position: This position serves as the advisor to the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (1st TSC) Safety Director planning, organizing, developing, coordinating, and evaluating a comprehensive safety and occupational health program. Position is in 1st TSC, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Duties

Knowledge of Compliance and Enforcement of Safety and Occupational Health Subprograms. Skill with Safety and Occupational Health Principles, Practices, Procedures and Regulations. Knowledge of Safety and Occupational Health Program Management Skill in Investigating and Analyzing a Safety and Occupational Health Program.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has requirements which must be met prior to employment, and conditions for continued employment. Your answers to the questions in this section will indicate your understanding of, or possession of, these requirements and conditions.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as Key and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • Position requires travel temporarily away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Position requires completion of one (1) year trial period unless the requirement has been previously met.
  • Position requires the U.S. Army Safety Professional Certification of the CP-12/PCSOH Program or must complete within 12 months of appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Position is covered by the Army Substance Abuse Program, AR 600-85. Must sign a DA Form 5019-R and must pass a urinalysis test as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

Qualifications

This position is being filled as a term position not to exceed 36 months, may be extended up to five or eight years (see below), and may be converted to permanent without further competition. This term position may be terminated earlier than the NTE date at management's discretion. If a current, permanent ARCENT employee: Upon termination or expiration of the term position, the employee will be returned to previously held permanent position or one comparable to one vacated (i.e. same series, grade, pay and duty location). If not a current, permanent ARCENT employee: Upon termination or expiration of the term position the employee may be responsible for securing permanent employment - placement rights back to former permanent position will be negotiated but are NOT GUARANTEED and at the losing and gaining organization's discretion. Incumbent will be required to sign a Statement of Understanding regarding term employment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11). Position may be filled as a temporary promotion not to exceed thirty-six (36) months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five (5) years and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a TERM appointment not to exceed thirty-six (36) months, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. TERM appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Education

Some Federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for required experience to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted.
