About the Position: Position is located at US Army Cadet Command Headquarters, Special Staff Safety Office, Fort Knox, KY

Duties

Serve as the lead safety and occupational health specialist and an authoritative expert on military training within organization. Plan, schedule and conduct annual safety program evaluations of safety programs, and participate in Staff Assistance Visits, Quality Assurance assessments and special studies and inspections conducted by higher headquarters (TRADOC, Army, DOD). Investigate military and civilian personnel injuries, occupational illnesses, Army Motor Vehicle accidents, material and property damage incidents and fires and explosions. Initiate and carry out safety education activities, promoting safety awareness through safety councils, providing training courses such as traffic safety to employees. Prepare brochures and newsletters explaining job safety procedures, and meeting with specialized equipment operators. Assist Safety and Occupational Health Manager in overall program administration.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 15% of the time.
• May be required to complete a one year trial period.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
