You will serve as a Transportation Assistant in the Navy Household Goods Personal Property Shipping Office of NAVSUP FLC NORVA GF.

Duties

You will act as a single point of contact for inbound and outbound shipment management. You will arrange for the pickup and/or delivery of personal property shipments. You will determine and advise on entitlements or procedures related to, for example, temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and household goods. You will respond to all member/employee and Transportation Service Providers (TSP) requests for information/assistance. You will prepare cost estimates to assist the customer in determining the best method of movement.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • You may be required to obtain/possess a Government vehicle operator permit.

Qualifications

GS-05:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates knowledge and application of a general body of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a variety of interrelated transportation support assignments in connection with shipment management of personal property. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Assist with entitlements or procedures, related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and/or household goods; 2) Assist with selecting carriers and/or arranging for the pickup, delivery, or storage of personal property; and 3) Utilize automated information systems to assist in identifying needs or problems. GS-06:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates knowledge and application of transportation regulations, methods, and practices to perform a wide variety of transportation support assignments and resolve a wide range of problems in connection with shipment management of personal property by government or commercial means. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Assist with the determination of entitlements or procedures, related to temporary storage of goods, weight allowances, prohibited items, and shipment of unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and/or household goods; 2) Assist with selecting carriers and arranging for the pickup, delivery, and storage of personal property; 3) Utilize automated information systems to identify needs or problems. 4) Respond to requests for information or assistance.
