You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY OFFICER in the COMMANDING OFFICER DIVISION of AIRTEVRON WING NINE.
Duties
You will serve as the command's Security Director for the Navy Security Program and establish policy, directives and instructions regarding industrial security, information security, personnel security, and force protection issues.
You will be responsible for supervision, technical leadership, planning, command security program development, coordination and management of all security aspects and personnel in the Security Department at VX-9 and subordinate commands.
You will provide technical expertise and advisory support for all Security Managers at VX-9 subordinate commands.
You will plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive security program and schedule annual inspections for compliance with established policies and procedures for subordinate commands.
You will represent VX-9 in meetings and conferences on security planning and recommend security policy changes as necessary to adhere to established guidelines.
You will set expectations for employee performance; recommend discipline, firing, awards and promotions.
You will assess manpower and workload situations and advise the Admin Officer and Commanding Officer accordingly.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain the five core SPeD trainings and certifications, the ICD 705, Anti-Terrorism Level II, GSA-Certified Security Container Inspector training and certifications.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Evaluating the effectiveness of policies and procedures for a Navy Security Program operation by identifying security problems and recommending alternative methods or procedures to improve the effectiveness of the commands security program.
