You will serve as a PROTOCOL OFFICER in the U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. FOURTH Fleet of COMDR US NAV FORCES SOUTHERN CMD.

Duties

You will serve on the executive staff as the Protocol Officer to the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. FOURTH Fleet. You will provide protocol support and services to the Commander, a 2-star Admiral. You will manage events from start to finish in a professional manner using outstanding demeanor, strong interpersonal and people skills and deliberate actions to react to a dynamic environment. You will provide constant budget and management review of all DV programs to achieve command and Navy-wide goals. You will evaluate, plan, and coordinate the arrangements for all visits of military and civilian dignitaries to the command. You will provide detailed plans and itineraries for visits, social functions and special events. You will serve as the lead, and at times host, for visits that includes scheduling, logistics and protocol support, and liaise between commands necessary to achieve successful visits.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a non-critical-sensitive position.
  • Incumbent must be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • Travel may be within CONUS or OCONUS. Incumbent must be medically and physically able to travel throughout the SOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Proficiency in speaking and understanding Spanish language is desirable but not required.
  • A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
  • Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning and management procedures necessary to review and evaluate an active protocol program; Managing Official Representation Funds (ORF) used for the Distinguished Visitor (DV) program/social functions and maintaining assigned Purchase Card, (e.g., Government Commercial Purchase Card); Creating and maintaining inventory of gifts/mementos presented and received by the Superior, (e.g., Commander), or on behalf of the Superior (e.g., Commander); Budgeting and management review of all DV programs to achieve facility, (e.g., command), and organizational wide goals (Navy-wide goals); AND Providing guidance and assistance with inquiries regarding protocol and manage conferences during planning and execution of known organizational activities, (e.g., (Traditional Commander Activities (TCA).
