VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Assigned to the VA Capitol Health Care Network (VISN 5) under the supervision of the VISN Deputy Quality Management Officer with secondary reporting to the Quality Management Officer/ Chief Nursing Officer. . The Social Worker, Program Coordinator will have an extensive background in clinical social work and professional VHA clinical practice, having held positions with progressively complex leadership assignments and responsibility. Demonstrated expertise at the advanced practice skill level in social work and complex program management, including showing the capacity to apply sophisticated clinical and health care knowledge. Possesses a high degree of self-motivation, direction, and initiative in policy and standards development as well as systems redesign. They also must be a licensed clinical social worker, licensed by a state to practice at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification. The major duties of the position include: Directing the Patient Experience Program for a multifaceted multi-mission healthcare system that provides comprehensive wide-ranging services to a large patient population. Collaboration with a variety of service organizations and community partners that encompass the entire VISN area. Working closely with specific groups of staff and/or departments, including contractors that are affiliated with the program. Providing Network Executive Leadership with authoritative and objectively based information for making decisions on the programmatic aspects of organizational operations and management. Overseeing all Patient Experience related collaborations and initiatives within the VISN. Ensuring that current Patient Experience practices and policies across the VISN are in compliance with VHA Directives and Policy. The selectee will have complex, VISN-level managerial and leadership responsibilities for providing comprehensive, high-quality, and cost-effective oversight of the Patient Experience Program. Participating in Network and National Patient Satisfaction efforts, taking leadership roles in key activities. Providing leadership in the design, development, coordination, and evaluation of Patient Experience activities. Conducting program assessments and preparing reports necessary for program continuity and reporting. Serving as the VISN Point of Contact for allegations of sexual assault/harassment (employee or Veteran) identified through PATSR. Identifying strategies and tactics to advance the VHA operational plan's goals and objectives. Supporting and actively promoting workforce diversity, workplace inclusion, and equal employment policies and programs. Qualifications

Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditationto verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a Master of Social Work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the Advanced Practice level. Current state requirements may be found on the OHRM website. https://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/ English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Social Workers must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA policy. Grade Determinations: GS-14 Social Worker (Chief, Patient Experience Officer) - In addition to the basic requirements of employment, the following criteria must be met when determining the grade of candidates. Experience/Education: Do you possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level? Some examples of specialized experience include but are not limited to: Enhancing access to care by reviewing patient satisfaction data sources to include PATSR (Patient Advocate Tracking System- Replacement), V-Signals, SHEP (Survey of Healthcare Experiences of Patients), etc. Handling/managing caregiver support appeals, customer complaints and Patient Experience initiatives. The Social Worker (Program Manager) must show experience of advanced practice skills and judgment, demonstrating progressive professional competency. The Individual may have a certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. (The experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.) Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Skill in large scale program coordination and administration across multiple sites, which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring. Ability to translate management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled work operations. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in sound operation of the program. Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care. Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties which would include responsibility for assignment of work to be performed; performance evaluations; selection of staff, training, and recommendation of awards, advancements, and when appropriate, disciplinary action. Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls, contracts, and equipment expenditures), forecast resource and equipment needs, and administer the allocated budget. Skill in developing policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program and in participating in national program development. Ability to collaborate with internal VHA partners, locally and on a national level, as well as external community partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care. Preferred Experience: Experience in PATSR, V-Signals, SHEP, and handling/managing customer complaints. References: Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G39. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-14. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Position requires occasional travel to facilities and sites within the VISN.
