Duties

This position is located under the Office of Public and Governmental Affairs, Office of the Information Privacy and Governance Division, in Washington, District of Columbia. The incumbent serves as a primary expert consultant and technical advisor to the IPG Division Chief or Deputy Chief on matters concerning requests for Bureau records under the FOIA and Privacy Act and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring ATF's efforts to process and appropriately respond to FOIA/Privacy Act records requests in a timely and accurate manner. This duty encompasses dealing with other directorates and policy officials to develop, analyze, and determine appropriate information to be disseminated.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Supervisory Government Information Specialist, GS-0306-14, candidates MUST have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-13. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized Experience includes: - Analyzing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 U.S.C. 552) requests, conducting records searches, and reviewing results to determine responsiveness of records and the use of appropriate exemptions when necessary.
