This position performs duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing, transfer of health and administrative information and other file room duties as assigned and controls all information arriving and leaving the Medical Center from the Health Information Management Section.
Duties

Major Duties and responsibilities include:
Performs duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing, transfer of health and administrative information and other file room duties.
Controls all information arriving and leaving the Medical Center from Health Information Management Section.
Processes requests for health/administrative information.
When records are received, ensures all necessary health/administrative information is integrated into VISTA through PC scanning, hardware, and software.
Uploads and faxes or prints and mails all necessary information to the receiving facility when a transfer request is received.
Maintains a record request database and conducts follow-up activities when information is not received in a timely fashion.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-04 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualifications:
-GS-04 General Experience: One (1) year of general experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. General experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples of experience may include: electronically scanning various health information documents into electronic medical records and assuring the scanned documents are associated to the correct patient and note; confirming medial record integrity and reviewing the image qualify in the electronic medical record, and performing regular quality assurance checks; indexing documents imported from other devices or sources into the electronic medical record; preparing paper medical records by removing paper clips, staples, tapes, and loose hanging material; filing loose files by attaching new material with previously filed material utilizing the computer as appropriate. -OR-
-GS-04 Education: Successful completion of two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) -OR-
-GS-04 Equivalent combinations of education and general experience (as described above) to meet the requirements at the GS-4 level. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary, however, some bending, stretching, walking, and lifting are required.
