You will serve as a WORK DETAIL in the INMATE CONTROL BRANCH of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Duties

You will accurately and completely maintain time keeping for inmates. You will provide detailed work assignments and instructions to Federal Prison Camp inmates. You will report to the chain of command any violation/impropriety whether actual or suspected. You will assist in the supervision of Inmate work and repair shop details.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Class C Commercial Driver's License with P (Passenger) Endorsement.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Ensuring all necessary reports are completed and submitted to management; 2) Communicating with a diverse group of individuals orally and in writing; and 3) Implementing prison/security policies and regulations during work assignments. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Four years of education above high school.

OR

A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.
