This position is located at US Mint,West Point- MANUFACTURING DEPARTMENT. As a METAL FORMING MACHINE OPERATOR (COIN MANUFACTURER), you will be you will be responsible for applying specialized skills, methods, procedures, and techniques to monitor and operate complex coin presses, rolling mills to press scrap metal and defective coins into sheet metal, upsetting mills, and other production and support machinery associated with the coin manufacturing industry.
Duties
As a METAL FORMING MACHINE OPERATOR (COIN MANUFACTURER), you will:
Operate and maintain machines to include startup, adjustment, stopping and other processes on burnishing, tumbling, rinsing and drying equipment and ensures optimal system operations. Uses manual, automatic, and / or computerized controls or systems to monitor, adjust and control all phases of operations.
Receive, issue, record, and safeguard coinage dies and collars and prepare and maintain records, inventories and related statistical data. Inspect dies and collars for defects, damage, proper face, denomination and serial numbers against shipping records to verify accountability.
Perform tasks associated with robotics, packing, encapsulation, assembly, bin and bulk items, materials, supplies, and equipment using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving supplies, equipment, devices and systems within the production facility.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.
Physical Effort:
Incumbents of this position frequently handle objects weighing up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and occasionally objects weighing up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds); however, hoists, lifts, and workers are available to assist in moving heavier items. They are required to lift, reach, push, pull, bend, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Employees sometimes work in cramped positions over and under machinery when troubleshooting machine issues. Must be able to work in cramped quarters for sustained periods of time and must have sufficient eyesight to do close work and endurance. Hand-eye coordination is required to keep pace with the operation of machines and controls. Operation of a forklift may be required. Work requires sitting and / or standing for prolonged periods of time.
