About the Position: This position is located at US ARMY SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND COMMAND SECTION COMMANDING GENERAL INSPECTOR GENERAL, at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Serves as a Detailed Inspector General and team leader of assistance and investigations under the supervision of the Chief of Assistance and Investigations
Division in the Office of the Inspector General, Headquarters, U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
Independently investigates inquiries into, evaluates, and reports on all aspects of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command.
Systemically researches, collects, organizes, reviews and analyzes pertinent data to identify potential topics with associated issue areas and inspections concept, scope, methodology and related inspector training.
Participates as a team member performing on-site systemic, compliance and follow-up inspections of issues at major subordinate commands and units, both CONUS and OCONUS.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Applicants/incumbents are required to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance with SCI.
- Position may require up to 25% or less of temporary duty travel.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant drug testing/incumbent random drug testing.
- A one year probation period may be required.
- Position requires successful graduation from the Inspector General School and maintain certification in accordance with regulation.
- Position requires practicing of IG attributes, as mandatory requirements for continued employment as an Army IG.
- Position requires database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Utilizing analytical techniques to evaluate problems with a systemic approach in mind, and identify systemic fixes to complex management procedures; 2) Developing investigation and inquiry plans to include drafting the directive for the investigation, determine the mission, known facts, inferred or deduced facts or issues, review testimony, documents and other required evidentiary matters and required administrative details; 3) Conducting interviews and establish and maintain effective relationships with supervisors, employees, administrative personnel, operating officials, and other personnel at all levels; 4) Analyzing information gathered during conduct of investigations and investigative inquiries, situational driven assignments, and inspections to formulate solutions to systemic, command-wide problems and to improve compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12
