You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will serve as a direct representative for the scheduling section on a project. You will review and assign start and completion dates to prefab jobs and new work. You will logically and analytically sequence the project's work using the CPM process. You will keep supervisor informed as to schedule requests, progress, and problems.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience with understanding work sequences and operations in the construction, conversion and repair of ships systems. *Experience understanding Baseline Advanced Industrial Management/Project Scheduling and Sequencing processes (BAIM/PSS) and guidelines. *Experience resolving network logic errors and improper work durations. *Experience executing all functions of the corporate scheduling system without direction support. *Experience issuing, updating schedules, sequences and ad hoc reports to support the full range of shipyard projects. *Experience working with computer terminals and computer systems, work sequences and operations required in the construction, conversion or repair of ship systems. To qualify for the GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience with updating and constructing various schedules, i.e. Key Event Schedules, Test Sequences, Critical Path Schedules, Job Summary/Boundary Sequences, Report Listings, Gantt Schedules and Bubble charts for work studies, game plans, and special work evolutions. *Experience reading blueprints, system diagrams, technical manuals and process instructions. *Experience utilizing arithmetic and practical mathematics such as algebra and geometry. *Experience setting up and operating peripheral equipment.
