This position is located at the Carpentry Shop of the Maintenance and Repair Section, Facility Management Service at VACHS San Juan, Puerto Rico. The employee is assigned to the surface preparation and painting of floors, walls, ceiling and roofs.

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to: Ability to use and erect materials such as ladders, planks, staging and scaffolding and be well versed in the proper safety procedures for use. Follow blueprints, sketches and work orders of items to be constructed/altered. Install cabinets, siding, wooden flooring and counter tops. Clean equipment, shop area and work site area. Use and maintain tools such as plumb lines, chalk lines, calipers, marketing gauge, framing squares, jointer's, routers as well as hand power tools. Applying new wallpaper using the best techniques and procedures of the trade and in accordance with the written wallpaper manufacturer's recommendation. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 3:00 pm or 3:00pm - 11:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Carpenter/PD672-08087-A Physical Requirements: Employee must, above all, be safety conscious in the performance of his work. Will work with ladders and scaffolds. Employee must be able to stoop, reach, kneel, crouch in confined spaces, and work in uncomfortable positions. The works requires lifting, carrying, pulling weights up to 75lbs. Most tasks will be performed indoors with little or no ventilation. ***Must be proficient in speaking and writing in English and speaking in Spanish.***

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
