About the Position: This position supports the mission of the Medical Affairs, Clinical Support Division, Clinical Quality Management Branch, Clinical Quality Improvement Program and is located in Falls Church, VA. Duties

Support the oversight, identification, prioritization, implementation and sustainment of clinical quality improvement opportunities in support of an integrated system of readiness. Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities and subsequently is responsible for supporting quality improvement projects. Interface broadly with clinical quality and safety stakeholders across the system to continuously improve the quality of patient care provided worldwide in both the direct and purchased care sectors. Draft policy statements and prepare formal presentations for a wide variety of professional audiences. Serve as the advisor on issues relevant to evaluation of clinical quality improvement programs, healthcare quality improvement science, clinical quality management education, and implementation of evidence-based practice interpretation.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Approximately 5% travel may be required. Travel may involve local and/or overnight.

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Health Science Specialist (CQI Deputy) GS-0601-15: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, serving as the advisor regarding clinical quality and patient safety related projects aimed at improving the care for beneficiaries, providing expertise regarding the development and implementation of evidence-based practices based on research and data; and developing policies directly related to clinical management experience. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
