Duties
This position serves as Supervisory Patient Safety Scientist, Patient Safety Center for Data Integration, which receives all the Title 10 US Code Section 1102 protected patient safety information provided by the Services and Markets.
This position serves as Supervisory Patient Safety Scientist in the Patient Safety Program, specifically the lead for the Patient Safety Center for Data Integration (CDI).
Collaborates with staff to fully integrate safety into the strategic planning processes at Headquarters, with a solid understanding of Market and Service counterparts.
Prepares monthly and quarterly reports and collaborates with the other Patient Safety sections in quarterly meetings that include the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), as well as Patient Safety representatives from the Services and Markets.
Provides oversight to the technical, analytical, and administrative management of patient safety measures and data, often relying on advanced analytical approaches, refined statistical analysis, dashboard displays and interpretation.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- Approximately 5% travel may be required. Travel may involve local, and or overnight.

Basic Requirements:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, establishing patient safety measures for the organization; serving as a data scientist in exploring innovative approaches to patient safety data; and assigning work to subordinates based on duties that support the mission of the organization.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14)
