This position is located in the Budget and Finance Unit, Office of the Comptroller, Office of Management and Administration, Tax Division. The Office of the Comptroller is responsible for budget planning, formulation, and execution activities; financial/fisca1 planning and analysis; and other related support services. This position serves as the primary point of contact on travel-related matters and as administrator of the Division's online travel system.

As a Financial Management Specialist GS - 0501 - 13, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Serves as the primary point of contact and Division's technical expert to employees and management on matters, issues and concerns relating to local, domestic, and foreign travel programs. Provides advice and information on the Federal Travel Regulations, government-wide, Department, and Division travel-related policies and procedures, and systems supporting the travel program.
Represents the Division on all travel issues, policies, procedures, and regulations with the Justice Management Division.
Serves as administrator for the E2 On-line Travel system which includes establishing and unlocking E2 accounts, managing routing pools and assisting personnel with system issues.
Initiates, analyzes, researches, and formulates plans and guidance for travel entitlements and other administrative policies. Reviews, develops and provide written instructions and standard operating procedures for division use, and ensures compliance to regulations and policies.
Serves as the Division administrator for the travel card program, responsible for coordinating issuance and collection of travel cards, ensuring travelers use their travel card properly, producing and reviewing monthly reports and informing management on misuse of travel cards.
In accordance with the Office of Management and Budget's Circular A-123, manages the Division's internal policies and procedures to maintain, safeguard, and protect the integrity of the travel program with regards to waste, loss, unauthorized use, or misappropriation of expenditures.
Reports on and manages other assigned operating programs. Manages revenue and other reimbursable agreements with counterparts internal and external to DOJ and Federal agencies; manages the execution of reimbursable agreements for revenue earned and expended.
Serves as the technical point of contact, liaison, and expert for resolving difficult and complex financial and management problems; and provides recommendations impacting programs.
Maintains effective internal controls to routinely meet financial reporting goals.

- This is NOT a remote position. You will be required to work in person at our Washington, DC offices. However, some Telework may be authorized.

To qualify for the position of Financial Management Specialist at (GS-0501-13), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for the GS-13 you MUST have at least one year of specialized experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector at the GS-12 grade level which includes but not limited to: serving as the technical expert and providing advice, information, and support to employees and management on matters relating to local, domestic, and foreign travel programs; working in an automated travel system to review and approve travel related documents such as reimbursements and authorizations; drafting and/or reviewing policies related to travel or other financial management program areas; analyzing financial or travel related data and generating reports on status of programs; implementing internal controls; managing revenue and other reimbursable agreements; performing operational budget execution activities for substantive financial programs; and/or resolving difficult and complex financial and/or travel problems.
Time in Grade Requirement: Current government employees on a permanent appointment in the competitive service must demonstrate one year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the occupational series and grade.
