You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) for NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will provide strategic leadership, management and development of Information Assurance (IA) policy, guidance and requirements. You will execute IA oversight and technical assessment of customer information systems and network infrastructure. You will analyze IA policy processes and emerging technology in accordance with Risk Management Framework Methodology (Life Cycle) process. You will evaluate and approve security requirements, new information, and technology and interpret patterns of non-compliance to determine their impact, levels of risk and/or overall effectiveness. You will review and approve the Information System Security Assessment Plan, which is comprised of the System Security Plan (SSP), Security Control Traceability Matrix (SCTM) and Security Control Assessment Procedures. You will implement and review the network infrastructure physical and logical security controls to ensure adequate security of the network.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Security Control Assessor, Intermediate level within 12 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the excepted service which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate performing duties such as the following: 1) Executing cybersecurity oversight and technical assessment of customer information systems and network infrastructure; 2) Distributing cybersecurity relevant solutions through analysis of policy, process, and emergent technology in accordance with Risk Management Framework methodology processes; 3) Performing comprehensive assessment of management, operational and technical security controls employed with or inherited by the Information System and determine its overall effectiveness; 4) Evaluating severity of the vulnerabilities and/or deficiencies discovered in the operational environment of Information Security; and 5) Providing recommendations for corrective actions and establish Plan of Action Milestone to address the vulnerabilities identified. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
