About the Position: Serves as an IT Specialist (Systems Administration) within the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command located at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
Duties
Provide customer support by the planning and delivery of customer support services, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements.
Manage Systems Administration and Analysis by planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT hardware and software systems and system resources.
Maintain system security by planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining programs, policies, and procedures to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems, networks and data.
Interpret Information Technology (IT) policies, standards, and guidelines to ensure IT resources are in compliance and relevant to industry standards and practices.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain an IAT II certification IAW DoD 8570.

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR): Incumbent must have IT-related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies:

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with Information Technology (IT) customer support and services, video conferencing or unified collaboration equipment, network infrastructure and services; providing information management technical and administrative support. IT-related experience demonstrates each of the four competencies as defined: 1) Attention to Detail - Being thorough when providing oversight of information technology and attending to detail in application of IT information security policies and procedures. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies or organizations outside the Government); knowledgeable about IT products and services and committed to providing quality products and services; 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information by keeping the organization informed of Information Technology regulatory procedures and 4) Analyzes Data - To isolate and resolve complex IT problems. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-02/(GS-11) equivalent.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent NH-02/(GS-11).
