You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL, SAFETY & HEALTH DEPARTMENT of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.
Duties
You will design, develop, manage and/or implement multiple environmental, safety, and health programs.
You will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Program Manager (PM) of assigned safety and health programs.
You will provide safety guidance to employees performing a wide range of duties to ensure command-wide compliance with occupational safety and health laws.
You will research and implement the latest changes/developments in safety and health laws.
You will manage the health program to include Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Ergonomics, Fire Warden, Traffic Safety, Medical Surveillance and Energy Control.
You will conduct unplanned event/mishap investigations and complete a detailed report.
You will develop occupational safety and health reports and metrics used to report data.
You will ensure compliance with the Occupational, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Act.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
FOR THE GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience providing expertise related to multiple environmental, Safety, and Health programs.
Experience assigning certain temporary managerial tasks and duties in the absence of the Department Head.
Experience attending Department Head meetings and status briefings in the absence of the Environmental/Safety Director.
Experience generating required environmental, safety, health and fire metrics to SERMC, CNRMC, and NAVSEA.
Experience and skill assessing and advising on the impact of commands activities on occupational safety and health issues.
FOR THE GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience generating required environmental, safety, health and fire metrics to SERMC, CNRMC, and NAVSEA.
Experience and skill assessing and advising on the impact of commands activities on occupational safety and health issues.
Experience assisting with the management of multiple environmental, Safety, and Health programs.

Education
FOR THE GS-11:
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
Successful completion of LL.M., if related
or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
