About the Position: Works closely with the Director of Emergency Services. Independently develops, plans and carries out the operation of the security program for the Blue Grass Army Depot.
Duties
Assists the Director in preparing long range plans that require extensive coordination, funding and lead-time.
Provides leadership and guidance for imminent and or actual emergencies.
Evaluates subordinate supervisors/leaders and serves as the reviewing official on evaluations of non-supervisory employees rated by subordinate supervisors.
Recommends selections for subordinate supervisory and leader positions.
Assists Director with the implementation of law enforcement and security procedures for personnel and facilities.
Reviews all current operations against Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS), crime statistics, and cost effectiveness in order to recommend course of action to Director.
Assist Director with visits for Directorate functions located at other AMC locations.
Occasionally performs law enforcement duties and in the absence of the Director, functions as the Director.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This position requires the incumbent to qualify and remain qualified with assigned firearms.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Experience establishing physical security policies and procedures to be followed for the installation, experience evaluating physical security programs to determine their effectiveness; experience coordinating operational, emergency and or special plans that relate to security of the installation and experience delegating workload assignments to personnel and evaluating work performance based on standards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
