You will serve as a Secretary (OA) in the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will prepare and review correspondence, reports and other documents. You will review work prepared by other clerical staff. You will receive visitors and phone calls. You will read and process incoming correspondence and material. You will prepare time and attendance records. You will establish and maintain office records of various types. You will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using the Navy Correspondence Manual to ensure appropriate formatting of correspondence, reports or similar materials. Experience maintaining supervisors' calendars and scheduling appointments and meetings. Experience using office automation software to produce reports and process correspondence. Experience using oral and written communication skills to clarify and exchange information, as well as to provide guidance and assistance on applicable procedures.
