You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Maintenance Standard & Test Programs Division; Maintenance Instruction & Material Programs Department of SUBMEPP ACTIVITY. If selected, you will serve as a Submarine Technical Program Manager.

Duties

You will be a Program Manager in the Maintenance Standard and Test Programs Division of the Maintenance Instruction and Material Programs Department, SUBMEPP Activity. You will be responsible for developing the standard approach and verbiage for technical criteria and procedures to be followed by shipyard technical and production personnel in the testing of submarine systems. You will evaluate maintenance and test requirements for consistency, and contact production shops to discuss their ability to accomplish the work. You will evaluate proposals for changes and modifications to methods, components and equipment facilitating and improving the inspection, testing and maintenance process. You will evaluate the adequacy and practicability of proposed change or design in terms of cost and personnel requirements. You will plan work by scoping each task to define technical requirements, determine the approach to be used, the segments of the task, and recommend completion dates and priority. You will monitor the progress of work performed within SUBMEPP and by contractors. You will lead the development and maintenance of an electronic library of technical documents. You will represent SUBMEPP in discussions and conferences at other Government and private activities, and chairs meetings with technical, computer and managerial personnel within and external to SUBMEPP.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating or conducting engineering technical work to evaluate or analyze design, construction, test & evaluation, troubleshooting, maintenance, or technical documentation for submarines, submarine systems, or submarine system components. FOR THE GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting engineering technical work involving design, construction, test & evaluation, troubleshooting, maintenance, or technical documentation for ships or submarines, ship or submarine systems, or ship or submarine system components.
