Duties
Serve as an advisor to the Division Officer and Department Head and is responsible for several administrative functions of the Department.
Participate in the development of unit policies and procedures, making recommendations for decision making in clinical and management issues.
Participate in the development of policies and procedures that may enhance the patient care experience rendering more efficient and effective treatment protocols
Monitor staffing and makes necessary recommendations to appropriate leadership to ensure adequate staffing is obtained and maintained on a consistent basis.
Work in conjunction with Directorate Medical Administrative Officer to ensure staffing requests are processed in a timely manner as to not effect operations of the department.
Prepare and complete all documentation required to obtain and sustain adequate staffing levels.
Monitor and assume overall responsibility for the compliance and completion of clinical duties for all mandated special programs such as DD2569 collection, eligibility verification of patients (DEERS).
Assume duties for any other business operations of Pediatric Clinic as defined by the departmental leadership.
Monitor the budget and analyze spending trends to identify any shortfalls or overages that may affect purchasing, training or effective rendering of patient care.
Obtain appropriate access and establishes necessary contacts to ensure that reports are prepared and obtained to provide feedback to departmental leadership concerning budgetary, staffing or productivity requirements.
Monitor and report to departmental leadership on appointment scheduling, availability and appropriateness of appointment booking and rescheduling availability and appropriateness of appointment booking and rescheduling.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes managing administrative and management issuances; developing and implementing administrative policies and procedures, planning, developing, advising and recommending improvements in medical treatment facility. his definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources, or Healthcare Administration; etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
