You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Waterfront Support Branch (Code 982), Production Engineering Manager Division (Code 980), Porduction Facilities and Equipment Manager (Code 900F), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will provide technical engineering services related to shipyard dry docks and waterfront design, maintenance, and operation.
You will inspect and coordinate maintenance of capstan, cleats, and bollards.
You will coordinate dry dock maintenance and repairs with affected tenants and projects.
You will coordinate technical dry dock and waterfront details between various construction or maintenance agents and shipyard codes.
You will participate as directed in the inspection, maintenance, and docking evolutions to ensure all waterfront facilities and dry docks meet NAVSEA certification requirements.
You will conduct investigations into dry dock and waterfront outages and casualties to determine corrective actions.
You will provide technical project development, documentation, design review, and technical engineering recommendations, specification preparation, review, and assist senior management in the construction oversight for projects developed.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-12
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a wide range of engineering, theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods as it pertains to waterfront operations and/or industrial plant operations.
Experience applying project management principles and the application of such principles.
Experience in building construction and/or maintenance experience including mechanical and/or electrical.
Experience providing advice to others on unprecedented problems.
Experience in devising, customizing formulating, executing, and adapting precedent to meet unusual needs or special demands.
Experience acting as Supervisory or Branch Head.
GS-11
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a wide range of engineering, theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods as it pertains to waterfront operations and/or industrial plant operations.
Experience applying project management principles and the application of such principles.
Experience in building construction and/or maintenance experience including mechanical and/or electrical.
