About the Position: Serves as an Installation-Level, multifunctional Human Resources Specialist (Military) within the Military Personnel Division able to perform the administrative duties necessary to support the Soldier Services Team and the Soldier Readiness team.

Duties

Provide clerical/administrative support as it relates to military personnel requirements, actions and policies. Generate reports, collect, and input data to the various Military HR Systems. Advise military members, retirees, dependents, civilian and contract employees of required documents to accomplish desired transactions. Provide informative and instructional briefings to employees, customers and other HR Specialists. Advise supervisors and staff on HR-related matters of a technical and complex nature. Review and update military personnel records and HR systems such as eMILPO, EDAS, TOPMIS, IPERMS, DARTS and DEERS/RAPIDS. Assist with Soldier Readiness Processing/Soldier Readiness Checks (SRP/SRC) for deploying and redeploying soldiers. Conduct analysis of military personnel data for purposes of generating statistical reports and identifying trends to make recommendations to improve processes.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes processing personnel actions, in-processing and out-processing employees and/or operating automated HR systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling personnel on entitlements, preparing personnel documents for the processing of personnel actions, and/or entering or retrieving data/information from automated human resources systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Personnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-4,5,6).
