You will serve as a SUPERVISORY OCEANOGRAPHER in the Ocean Analysis Division (N92), Ocean Projects Department (N9) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Duties

You will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work, assigning work to subordinates, based on priorities. You will prepare Division budget and insures cost effective expenditure of resources. You will implementing EEO policies and the EEO Affirmative Action Plan, and communicating support of same to subordinates. You will represents NAVOCEANO at high-level meetings within DOD, with other government agencies, and at scientific and technical symposia, conferences, and meetings. You will directs a high level of key scientific/professional activities which are carried out through subordinate employees. You will balances the workload among subordinate employees and resolves differences concerning the conduct of program operations, administrative, or other activities. You will often confronts novel, obscure or complex scientific oceanographic requirements and problems requiring innovative approaches for their solution.

Basic Requirements:

1. A. Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.

B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Applicants who qualify on the basis of major study in biology or geology must have had at least 6 semester hours in the major directly concerned with marine science or 6 semester hours in oceanography; applicants who qualify on the basis of other physical sciences or engineering must have had differential and integral calculus and at least 6 semester hours in physics.
