This position is in the Health Administration Service (HAS). Responsible for a wide range of assignments providing administrative support to HAS and the cost recovery aspects of this position has a direct impact on the reimbursement of the facility.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Researches regulations, policies and Standard Operating Procedures to develop recommendations for presentation to managers, supervisors; identifies and resolves problems arising from internal administrative management activities. Provides guidance on the interpretation of administrative directives and instructions.
Assists with the analysis of annual training needs and requirements of employees to ensure required training is accomplished. Maintains training records and advises personnel on training schedules.
Responds to suspense requests and provides background information, analyzes, comments, and recommendations as required. Conducts studies/special projects of the mission, function, manpower, clerical operations and allocation.
Responsible for formulating/recommending proposals to eliminate nonessential or nonproductive functions and procedures and to establish new ones.
Researches and analyzes administrative issues, determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information from a variety of sources.
Prepares a variety of special reports, identifies, and solicits necessary information.
Oversees a variety of general administrative duties performed in support of the Section. Serves as the alternate Timekeeper.
Manages human resource duties by preparing recruitment packets for a variety of clinical and administrative positions, monitors staff movement, and prepares personnel actions (FMLA, VLTP, LWOP, disciplinary) and awards for Section staff.
Coordinates education training requirements by monitoring and tracking assignments and preparing travel and/or education requests and reimbursement.
Receives telephone calls and visitors to the area regarding matters such as directions, information for contacting various departments, services, and requests for changes.
Performs a wide variety of record-keeping duties, updating manuals on policy and directives, maintaining files, and coordinating meetings, conferences and training classes, using Microsoft Outlook and other software.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm; Subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary; however, there will be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as papers and books. The tasks may require long periods at a desk working on a personal computer or other piece of equipment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of medical terminology and Microsoft Office products; assists in the development and support of existing programs; coordinate office functions, send calendar updates; communicate to other staff members proficiently with written and oral communication; responds to inquiries. This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
